Community Gospel offers Covenant Membership by participating in one of the following two options:
- Option 1: Covenant Membership Class: Community Gospel offers a membership class that spans 3-4 weeks periodically throughout the year (offered at various times and locations at the church). This membership class is highly recommended as it serves as a comprehensive introduction to Community Gospel, the local and global church, the EFCA (evangelical free church of America), biblical beliefs and doctrines of the Christian faith, privileges and responsibilities of being a covenant church member, and more. To see when the next covenant membership class is offered, please read the midweek communication that can be found here.
- Option 2: Individual Membership Covenant Submission: For those unable to attend our membership class, they can choose to fill out our membership covenant and submit it to the church office. This document (which can be downloaded below) is divided into two significant aspects. On the left side, one writes out his or her personal testimony, recounting the moment they confessed with their mouth and believed in their heart that Jesus Christ is Lord (Romans 10:9). Additionally on that side, one will need to write when their baptism (by immersion) took place as a declaration of faith in Christ (note: baptism is a required component of covenant membership at Community Gospel. If you desire to become a member and have not yet been baptized, please set up an appointment with one of our Pastors to discuss the possibility to participate in this church ordinance). On the right side of the covenant, one will them find agreement statements related to Community Gospel's doctrine, the essence of membership, and the commitment to submit to church leadership in alignment with Scripture. All individuals seeking membership are required to affirm these statements by signing and dating that section at the bottom of the document.
Once the filled-out membership covenant is completed, that document is to be submitted to the church office. Our Pastor(s) will personally review each submission before presenting them to our esteemed Elders. After prayerful consideration, all will collectively approve the covenant via signatures. Upon completion and approval, that individual will be notified of acceptance into covenant membership at Community Gospel.
